Meet Dr Hamid

Meet Dr Hamid Hosseini
Dr Hamid Hosseini is an Australian General Practitioner, biomedical researcher and founder of Hamita, based at Waverley Medical Centre in Glen Waverley. His professional journey spans almost three decades of clinical medicine, advanced biomedical research and a deeply personal experience with progressive hair loss.
That combination of doctor, scientist and patient experience became the foundation of Hamita.
Dr Hamid graduated in Medicine from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1996 and has practised medicine since that time. After extensive clinical experience, he continued his academic training in Australia, completing a Master of Biomedical Science with Honours and a PhD in Immunology and Cell Biology at Monash University in 2015. He went on to complete postdoctoral biomedical research in 2018, with work associated with Monash University, the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute and Alfred Health — contributing to more than 20 publications in internationally recognised peer‑reviewed journals, spanning immunology, cell biology, cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, thrombosis, heart attack and stroke.
Today, his clinical practice spans cosmetic & aesthetic medicine, skin cancer treatment, sports injury, WorkCover & TAC care, and minor surgical procedures — all delivered from his Glen Waverley clinic.
Trusted, high-quality care from childhood through to every later life stage
A well-known and widely trusted General Practitioner in Glen Waverley, Dr Hamid is recognised for the quality of his engagement with patients of every age — including newborns and children — built over more than three decades in family medicine.
Where medicine meets research — and lived experience
Your celebrity is your own anatomy
Respect your anatomy and physiology, and maintain your youthfulness from the age of 30 — rather than trying to change your appearance to look like someone else. Your celebrity is your own anatomy and physiology. We are here to help that become your celebrity, and to help you love and believe in yourself.
Dr Hamid's approach to cosmetic & aesthetic medicine is built on restoring rather than reshaping — gently filling the natural deficit of ageing tissue and collagen that develops over time, to maintain the quality and health of your skin and appearance, using your own features as the starting point. It is supported by a high standard of care from every angle of medicine, bringing together his clinical experience, scientific background and the latest technology to deliver on that promise. Your trust, combined with our knowledge and experience, can make a meaningful difference to your future.

From clinical medicine to Hamita
Nine chapters, in Dr Hamid's own path — from thirty years in general practice, to a personal encounter with hair loss, to a science-led approach to hair and scalp health.
01Where medicine meets research+
Dr Hamid's career has developed across two closely connected worlds.
Clinical medicine. As a General Practitioner since 1996, he has accumulated extensive experience across family medicine and procedural practice, with clinical interests spanning:
- – Family medicine
- – Skin cancer
- – General dermatology
- – Hair and scalp concerns
- – Aesthetic medicine
- – Chronic pain
- – Sports medicine
- – Mental health
- – Preventive medicine
- – Diabetes
- – Obesity and metabolic health
- – Men's and women's health
- – Reproductive medicine
- – Geriatric medicine
- – Travel medicine
- – TAC and WorkCover medicine
He also has experience in a range of minor and procedural treatments, including skin procedures, selected skin cancer surgery, PRP applications and aesthetic procedures.
Biomedical research. Alongside clinical medicine, Dr Hamid developed a strong academic research profile in immunology, cell biology and cardiovascular science — exploring the mechanisms behind inflammation, atherosclerosis, thrombosis, heart attack and stroke, and contributing to more than 20 international scientific publications.
How can scientific discoveries be translated into something that improves people's lives? That question later became central to the development of Hamita.
02When hair loss became personal+
The story behind Hamita did not begin as a business idea. It began with Dr Hamid's own experience of hair loss.
For many years he experienced progressive hair thinning and, eventually, advanced baldness. Like many people facing hair loss, he explored numerous products, treatments and approaches over a long period — and the results were often disappointing.
Eventually, the question changed from "What should I try next?" to "What is actually happening inside the hair follicle?"
That shift in perspective became the turning point. Rather than continuing to search for another product, Dr Hamid began applying his knowledge of cell biology, immunology, pharmacology and clinical medicine to the biology of hair and scalp health.
03Looking beyond the visible hair+
Hair is much more than the strand we see. The hair follicle is a biologically active structure, shaped by a complex interaction of factors:
- – Genetics
- – Hormones
- – Nutrition
- – Cellular signalling
- – Blood supply
- – Ageing
- – Inflammation
- – Scalp health
- – Stress
- – Environmental factors
- – Underlying medical conditions
Dr Hamid's scientific background encouraged him to approach hair loss the way he approached any other biological question: understand the mechanism first. That thinking became one of the central principles behind Hamita — hair loss is complex, and hair care should reflect that complexity.
04From personal experience to product development+
As Dr Hamid investigated hair and scalp biology more closely, he grew increasingly interested in how scientific principles could be translated into practical products — rather than a single fashionable ingredient, a purely cosmetic focus, or a routine that was expensive or hard to maintain.
Sophisticated science behind the product. Simple routines for the person using it.
This thinking led to an integrated hair-care philosophy rather than reliance on one standalone product. The original Hamita concept brought together shampoo, conditioner, hair serum and a derma roller — each performing a different role within a broader routine. Over time, this expanded into the wider Hamita range, including specialised topical products, eyebrow and eyelash care, precision derma rollers and nutritional hair-support formulations.
05A multi-pathway approach+
One of the strongest influences Dr Hamid brought from medicine and biomedical research is the understanding that biological problems are rarely controlled by one single factor. That is why Hamita does not build its philosophy around a single "hero ingredient." Instead, the approach considers several complementary areas:
- – Scalp condition
- – Hair-fibre quality
- – Nutritional support
- – Topical active ingredients
- – Ingredient delivery
- – Follicular environment
- – Hair strength
- – Daily hair-care practices
This multi-pathway thinking remains central to Hamita today.
06Science meets nature+
Natural ingredients should be selected because they serve a purpose — not simply because they are natural. Depending on the formulation, Hamita products may incorporate botanical ingredients together with vitamins, minerals, amino acids and modern cosmetic actives, including rosemary, ginger, ginseng, peppermint, tea tree, grape-seed-derived ingredients, biotin, niacinamide, selected amino acids, and other vitamins and minerals.
Ingredient selection is only the beginning. The more important questions are: why is the ingredient included, what function is it intended to perform, what concentration is appropriate, how does it interact with the rest of the formulation, is it stable, and can its delivery be improved? This is what Hamita means by science-led formulation.
07A doctor's perspective on hair loss+
Hair loss is not purely cosmetic. For many people, it can affect confidence, identity and emotional wellbeing. Dr Hamid's clinical experience has therefore influenced not only Hamita's products, but also the way the brand communicates.
People experiencing hair loss deserve clear information rather than exaggerated promises. Hamita's philosophy is to explain what a product contains, why an ingredient has been selected, what the product is designed to support, how it should be used, what realistic expectations may be, and when professional medical assessment may be appropriate.
For Dr Hamid, trust should come from understanding and transparency, not from unrealistic claims.
08Research is in his DNA+
Research has been a defining part of Dr Hamid's professional life. His scientific background created a habit of constantly asking: can this be improved, is there stronger evidence, can the formulation work more intelligently, can delivery be optimised, can the routine be simpler, can different products complement one another more effectively?
That culture of continuous evaluation is now part of Hamita. A product reaching the market is not the end of the process — it is another stage in an ongoing cycle: research → development → evaluation → refinement.
Better hair care through better understanding
Dr Hamid's vision for Hamita extends beyond creating another range of hair-care products. His objective is to build a premium Australian, science-led hair and personal-care brand where:
- Science guides formulation.
- Nature provides valuable ingredients.
- Technology improves performance.
- Education builds confidence.
- Products are practical enough for everyday life.
- Innovation continues as knowledge advances.
My experience with hair loss began personally, but my background in medicine and biomedical research encouraged me to look deeper. I wanted to understand the biology, not simply move from one product to another. Hamita grew from that journey — bringing together science, carefully selected ingredients and practical everyday hair care.
